The goal of Evokako (Here's How) is to mobilize and connect people in Serbia-Montenegro and Srpska Republic and abroad who want to help precipitate long-term and sustainable progress of the country and improve life for people living there or those who will move back. One of the ways to contribute to that change is through networking, communication and generation of new projects and activities. We imagine Evokako as a virtual community which will help carry out realistic initiatives and projects.. We would like to invite you to be a part of our creation, by getting involved, suggesting new directions and projects, networking with people in your field and others interested and by sharing democratic and effective ways and principles of achieving very broad range of changes for Serbia-Montenegro and Srpska. By walking through our site you will be able to get an idea of what we are doing, to learn more about an incredible world of nongovermental organizations (NGOs) and citizen initiatives existing in the mentioned region. We presented only a small portion of it - easily accessible on the internet. You will notice that there is a very strong movement to organize, to get things 'into our hands' and to precipitate positive changes. So, please be creative about the ways how you and your friends can get involved and help. To those in the country, already having good ideas and projects, or only contemplating ones, we would like to serve as a liasion, a source of info, one stop- shop for accessing info and contacts in their new adventure. Someone who can help them find appropriate donors, a place where they can come for advice from a large and wise community of people of good will. We would like to avoid political discussions, as much as it's possible and concentrate on daily life, economy, small business, volunteerism, creativity, people to people projects, arts, science. Shortly, we want to focus on introducing the best from both inside and outside the country and promoting the models that will contribute to the sustainable progress. For international foundations and organizations already doing a wonderful job of helping important issues all over the world, we would like to be a trusted source of info on the latest trends, actions and projects initiated by local people in Serbia-Montenegro and Srpska worth of their involvement, help and financial support. To those in Diaspora we would like to be a spot in their daily search for news about home, the spot that avoids lengthy political discussions, but rather a space where you come to be creative and effectuate positive action. Maybe, some of the listed projects will match your needs, even very practical ones such as looking for employees for your new business? Or you're looking for business connections, a new idea coming from Serbia or would like to start a business which would provide income to local families and earn you some profit? Or you are just in position to do some charity work, small as a book donation or larger as taking care of the whole summer camp for refugee kids? Or just simply meeting people of similar ideas and goals? We at evokako.org have the same goal of seeing the country and its people in more dignified and happier state than it has been lately. And we think one way to do that is to help this region integrate into the world, on its own pace and under the terms that best suit its people's needs. And who's the best to help that, along with the forces from inside? Those of us who live abroad but have family, cultural or ancestral liasions to the home country. And we invite people from all over the world, of all nationalities and professions to join us in this, because we would have done this for any country in need in the world, but we're doing it for Serbia-Montenegro and Srpska because that's the one we know well and think we can help. Resources for those in Serbia-Montenegro and Srpska Include list of current grants and financial help available to citizens of Ser-Mon-Srpska, international foundations/organizations that have their efforts targeted to the region and various reference material. Here you will find many ideas and methodes to support projects concerned with social, cultural, economic, and political developments. Also, technical help for those wanting to apply for funding internationaly. 2. Information for those outside of Serbia-Montenegro-Srpska Includes Evokako's goal to publicize and promote on-going efforts inside Serbia-Montenegro-Srpska through in-depth portraits of project-directors, their organizations, and their work. It also includes a list of specific information on what is needed now, by whom, and how individulas or organizations can directly and personally contribute to schools, civic organizations, universities, refugees or independent projects. The focus of our list is on material needs that anyone could easily obtain and mail to the listed donee, or start a colaboration on various projects. 3. A Forum Evokako especially wishes to provide a public space for networking to all those who are contributing their energy and time to the future of Serbia-Montenegro-Srpska. We plan to initiate a 24 hour community center for all of us who want to explore more or less wild ideas, find lost friends, ask questions and support variety of diverse efforts underway in and out of the country. Most of all we hope that Internet technology will offer new chances to end the isolation between those of us dedicated to mentioned goals. |
