Mr. Neil Gow's letter:

Dear Sir or Madam:

I am writing to you on behalf of Their Royal Highnesses, Crown Prince Alexander and Princess Katherine, whom I am working for in New York.    As you are well aware, the unemployment rate in Serbia and Montenegro is very high.    The 1991 break-up and resulting wars in the former Yugoslavia coupled  with the economic situation of the Milosevic era have caused a massive brain drain to follow. The Karadjordjevic family believes that it is time to create an initiative to help reverse these immense problems. One of the main of objectives of the Princess Katherine Fund will be to create a database of expatriates who left the country to work and live abroad. Additionally, plans are already underway to create recruiting agencies in Serbia and Montenegro.  The goal of the recruiting agency will be to create a central database for employers and will contain profiles of qualified candidates to fill those jobs. This in turn will create more jobs and give the economy the boost it needs. Qualified candidates who chose to be included in this database will be contacted and will be given an opportunity to play a leading role in building a better Serbia and Montenegro.

If you are interested in registering your name in this database to help build a better Serbia and Montenegro, or know of someone who would please contact me via email on

n.gow@pkfond.org, or call me on   (212)867-5050.

Thank you for your time,
Sincerely
Neil Gow

MOBA 2003: FRIENDSHIP BUILDING AMONG SERBIAN CHILDREN
                             FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD

This coming summer for the third time 'Moba' will be organized. This
wonderful activity sponsored by the Serbian Orthodox Church, with cooperation of the Diaspora Council (Savet Dijaspore) at the Federal Government level,
and several ministries of both Serbian and Yugoslav governments, brings
together youth from Diaspora and from homeland.

The goal of this action is for young people who live outside of Serbia
to visit the country from which their parents and grandparents originated,
about which they may not know enough, maybe not really understand its people
and customs, and may not even speak the Serbian language.
To congregate in Serbia where they will spend a month with peers from their
fatherland. Through the "Moba" on building sites, through companionsh=
ip and fun, the young people will learn the Serbian language and history.
Learn about their religion, culture and traditions.
They will exchange ideas and experiences and form long-lasting friendships.
New relationship will be formed which may last a lifetime, bringing closer
Serbs in Serbia with those who live outside its borders. A bridge of
friendship will be formed between Serbs everywhere, as hundreds of youth come
home to the country of their heritage.

Thanks largely to efforts of Bishop Lavrentije of Sabac-Valjevo, "Moba"
has grown from one location in Soko Grad in its first year, to four locations
and over 150 participants in its second year: in Niksic (Budimlja-Niksic
Diocese), Milesevo, Zlatibor (Zica Diocese) and at the Monastery of
Holy Father Nikolai, by Ljubovije (Sabac-Valjevo Diocese).

Last summer, at these sites, the youth worked on restoration of bombed
and damaged buildings and churches from the NATO attack on Serbia, and on
building of new churches and monasteries. At the location of St. Nikolai
Monastery, the youth assisted in archeological digs of Soko grad,
last stronghold of the Turks, which they left after centuries of occupation.
In addition to working 3-4 hours per day, the participants have programs of
cultural and sport activities. The emphasis is on friendship and fun, and the
sites are visited frequently by well known Serbian authors, actors and
teachers who came to share their experiences and talked about language,
literature, history, religion, traditions and Serbian historical figures.

All participants of "Moba" had an audience in the Patriarchate a=
nd were blessed personally by His Holiness Patriarch
Pavle. His Royal Highness Crown Prince Aleksandar was also one of the
supporters of "Moba" and has pledged his future support.
Prime Minister Djindjic hosted all the participants in the reception room of
the Government of Serbia, and promised financial assistance for future
"Moba".

More information about "Moba" can be found on this site
www.moba2003.spc.org.yu.

This year "Moba" will be organized from July 19, and will last a=
month. As in the previous years, participation in MOBA is free of charge.
Participants are responsible for their travel costs, health insurance, visas,
spending money and perhaps a small registration fee.
This year there will be five building sites:
Archeological site of Soko Grad, by the Monastery of St. Nikolai
Building of new church on Zlatibor Niksic Fruska Gora near Sremski Karlovci
And Samobor.
We anticipate over 500 young people from United Sates, Canada, Australia
and Western Europe to join in the activities along with the same number from
Serbia. Space will be limited to first come basis.

Call for papers on Orthodoxy at Baylor University

From: "Fr. Irinej Dobrijevic"
Reply-To: "Fr. Irinej Dobrijevic"
To: "Office of External Affairs"

Preface:

Orthodoxy has a rich tradition of dealing with social and economic questions, both from its patristic scholarship, but also from the practical experiences of many immigrants, particularly Greeks and Arabs, who opened small businesses all across the United States.

It would be encouraging to have a strong Orthodox response to this conference by having theologians,
economists, and business people take part in this conference alongside participants representing Catholic, mainstream Protestant, and Evangelical traditions.
